NEW YORK, NY; April 14, 2016 – International Pharmaceutical Expo (INTERPHEX), the premier event dedicated to pharmaceutical and biotechnology innovation, technology and knowledge from development through commercialization, sponsored by the Parenteral Drug Association (PDA), today announced that Whitehouse Laboratories, a leader in testing from development to market, will feature their new microbiological laboratory facility and expanded service offerings at INTERPHEX, April 26-28, 2016 at the Javits Center in New York.

“Congratulations to Whitehouse Laboratories on the opening of their new, stand-alone microbiological laboratory and expansion of the service offerings”, said Ed Several, Senior Vice President, INTERPHEX. “Our attendees have a great opportunity to learn more about USP 61, USP 62, and USP51 and their complete line of chemistry and microbiology testing services.”

“The addition of micro testing services offers our clients a comprehensive testing service that includes all facets, chemistry and microbiological, of testing required for product approval and enhances and supports the extensive raw material testing services we currently offer”, stated Mark Stier, General Manager, Whitehouse Laboratories. “Based upon our client demand and need for a one stop shop approach for outsourced testing, we felt the addition of micro testing was the logical next step in our growth expansion.”

Stier continued, “We look forward to attending INTERPHEX every year. Exhibiting at this event provides us with an opportunity to share our expertise and insight into best practices in product development, approval and compliance with key decision makers. Stop by and learn more our newly expanded microbiological services at Booth 1228.”

USP 61 product safety testing is required to ensure that a product preparation complies with a pre-set specification for microbiological quality. This enumeration test is performed as a plate count to determine if a product is contaminated with bacteria and/or fungi above acceptable levels. In a similar function, USP 62 testing evaluates for specific pathogens such as Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella species, Clostridium species, Candida albicans and bile-tolerant gram negative bacteria. USP 51 is a preservative/antimicrobial effectiveness test that is commonly required for products which utilize a preservative system, such as drug products for multiple use, e.g. injection, otic, oral, nasal, topical and antacid products, cosmetics, and personal care products (e.g. shampoo, conditioner, lotion).
