 Manager, Container Qualification

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:

Oversee the laboratory and staff in the performance of container qualification testing. Discuss testing technicalities and options with clients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
Perform all work duties in an exceptional manner as assigned under the job description

Laboratory Responsibilities:

  • As required, independently perform container qualification testing on packaging components such as bottles, vials, and stoppers according to USP, EP, JP, etc.
  • Review and approve analytical work completed by assigned supervisee(s).
  • Work in conjunction with the QAU in Out of Specification (OOS) investigations, using knowledge and experience to assist in the determination of the cause of failure.
  • Department Responsibilities:
  • Assist clients in discussion of appropriate testing required for their particular package or component. Quote clients based on discussion of needs.
  • Assist with various laboratory administrations such as sample receipt, supply ordering and receipt.
  • Provide leadership and direction to personnel assigned as supervisee(s), ensuring timely completion of quality work.
  • Assist with management of laboratory equipment inclusive of instrument calibrations, performance verification, IQ, OQ, PQ.
  • Coordinate laboratory training sessions for assigned supervisee(s) as needed.

 ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to: Associate Director(s) of Container Qualification & CCIT

EXPERIENCE OR SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • College degree in science-related field, 3 or more years of experience in a laboratory environment preferred.
  • Excellent professional communication skills for a client-facing role.
  • Knowledge and experience with common container testing methods required, such as USP <660>, <661>, <670>, <671>, <381>.
  • Operational knowledge of the following laboratory instruments preferred: FTIR, UV-VIS, DSC, HPLC, ICP
  • Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office, inclusive of Outlook, Word, and Excel required.

Laboratory Technician: Container Closure Integrity (CCI)

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:

Provide support for all lab functions required for the completion of analytical testing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Sample Preparation
    • Basic calculations may be required
  2. Transport, organize, and maintain samples in appropriate storage locations
    • Work with Project Manager and the rest of team to anticipate and intake samples
  3. Maintain clean laboratory workspaces
  4. Coordinate shipments and laboratory orders
    • Preparation of shipments
    • Place PO requests based on analyst needs
  5. Basic analysis as needed

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to Associate Director, CCIT

EDUCATIONAL OR SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Associates Degree or higher in a relevant science; experience in a laboratory environment and/ or pharmaceutical industry is preferred. Good written, math and verbal skills; highly organized and ability to focus on details.

Junior Analyst, Container Closure Integrity Testing

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

A Junior Analyst position is available in the Container Closure Integrity Testing sub-department at Whitehouse Laboratories in Whitehouse, New Jersey.  The successful candidate will be trained in relevant container closure integrity testing technologies referenced in the proposed revisions to the USP <1207> chapter.  The candidate will be expected to generate, record, and analyze test data in support of test method development and validation studies under the supervision of management.  The candidate must have excellent communication skills to interact intelligently with clients.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To perform analyses, generating data in support of test method development and validation programs.
  • Importing and statistical analysis of data in Microsoft Excel
  • To work collaboratively with team members and management to meet project goals.
  • To maintain documentation, equipment, and work areas in a neat and orderly condition according to cGMP guidelines.
  • To carry out the above responsibilities, and all other which may be assigned, as directed by management.

Qualifications:

  • Prior laboratory experience in a cGMP environment is preferred.
  • Excellent organization, multitasking, and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to identify patterns is a must.
  • Moderate computer skills (MS Office) to process and analyze data.
  • Ability to commit to a full time position.

JUNIOR ANALYTICAL CHEMIST

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform complex testing related to compendial monographs and general chapters; Saponification/Hydroxyl/Acid/Iodine Value, IR/UV analysis, Assays GC/HPLC analysis, ICP-MS analysis, Atomic Absorption spectrometry, etc.

Perform measurements, computations, tabulation, and analyze results related to the testing conducted.

Perform non-routine instrumental analysis and wet chemistry analysis in response to customer inquiries and projects as required.  This may include but not limited to developing methods and performing method validation and verifications.

Operate and maintain/calibrate laboratory equipment as per manufacturer’s recommendations and company’s Preventive Maintenance program.  

Maintain laboratory records related to all testing activities assuring that they are accurate and up to date. 

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Perform all analysis and lab related duties as per cGMP.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports to the Wet Chemistry Laboratory Manager and GC & HPLC Laboratory Manager

EDUCATIONAL OR SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical engineering coupled with laboratory experience is required. Prior work experience in a contract testing laboratory setting and knowledge of USP compendial testing is most ideal. Good written, math and verbal skills; highly organized and decision-making ability focused around details.
